- I was born in Dayton in 1930; lived in Oakwood until 1948; attended/graduated from Oakwood school system K-12, including Harmon Avenue School at the corner opposite Hawthorne Hill; knew Orville Wright, played classical piano solos for him; attended his funeral in 1948; have original 1896 City Directory of Dayton indicating in small print: "Wright Brother, bicycles, 7 S. Hawthorne, Dayton." My greatgrandfather founded T. D. Eichelberger & Sons in 1869--supplied early construction supplies to Wright Patterson Air Force Base. I know MUCH about early Dayton industrialists/business founders; grew up in my family home @ 686 Far Hills Ave @ Patterson Road, Oakwood (on the Patterson estate). Graduated from Ohio State University iin 1952; added post-grad classes @ OSU & Northwestern University for total eight years formal college education. Moved to inland Southern California in 1957; became bank administrator followed by commercial real estate brokerage/ development/ownerhip; am still very active in same profession. End///.
